Dashboard, streaks, and statistics
The dashboard is your starting point each day. It tells you what to study, how you're doing, and where it's worth putting your focus.
Your dashboard
When you open Medkit you see your dashboard, built out of several modules. Each one shows you a part of your studying: what you have pending today, where to start, how your consistency is going, and which topics are giving you trouble. You can hide or show modules from the settings.
What your pending items are
In many places you'll see your pending count: what you have to study today. What gets scheduled isn't the whole card but each of its parts. A Front/Back card is a single part, but every hidden word, rectangle, label or zone is graded separately, so a deck of 329 cards can have 463 pending. They split into three states, each with its own color:
Parts scheduled for later don't count as pending until their day arrives.
The modules
The Continue studying button in Today's plan builds a single session that takes you through all your decks until you hit the goal. Only what you rate counts toward the goal: if you skip, ignore, or hide something, the goal stays open and you can come back in to finish it.
Customizing the dashboard
The dashboard adapts to you from Settings › Dashboard. There you can:
- Daily goal: let Medkit work it out on its own based on what you have pending, or set it by hand (how much you want to do per day). The goal is fixed once at the start of the day and works as a ceiling: if more pending items show up (you import some, or some come due) it doesn't grow, and if you end up with fewer (you hide or delete cards) it drops so you can always reach 100%.
- Show or hide modules: keep only the ones that are useful to you. You can turn them off one at a time or all together.
Your streak
Your streak counts the consecutive days you studied: the idea isn't to study a lot one day, but a little every day. If a streak is at risk (you have an active streak and haven't studied today yet), the dashboard lets you know.
A deck's details
From a deck's menu you can open Details, covering that deck and its subdecks: what it holds (cards, subdecks, and parts) plus your own statistics, meaning your real retention (what percentage of cards you recall when reviewing them), how much you have pending, how many parts are already mature, the days you studied, and when your next review is.
