Profile and community
Medkit isn't just your cards. You have a public profile, you can follow other people, compare your consistency on the Ranking, and study the decks others share.
Your profile
Your profile is your public page within Medkit. You get there from the menu under your picture, top right, under My Profile. It shows:
- Your picture and your username, with your real name below it if you filled it in.
- Your followers and who you're following. Tap either number to see the full list.
- Your current streak and a mini chart with your activity over the last few days.
- Your public decks, so anyone can see and clone them.
The profile shows up to four, and View all opens the full list, with search, sorting and a filter to hide decks with no cards. A public deck with no cards yet doesn't show up on the profile or in Explore, but it does show up on that list, which is where you find it to fill it.
Editing your profile
Your picture and your name are changed from Settings › My data. That's also where you change your username. The detail on each one is in the Settings guide.
- Profile picture: it's used on your profile, on the ranking, and next to your comments.
- First and last name: optional. If you fill them in, they appear below your username.
- Decks on my profile: choose whether your profile shows your most recent public decks, the most cloned, the most liked, or the ones you pick. With Custom you get the list of your public decks to pick up to 4, and you can also pick them from each deck's ⋯ menu.
Following other people
On another person's profile you'll see the Follow button. When you follow someone, they gain a follower and get a notification. To unfollow, tap the same button (it now says Following). If that person has a private profile, tapping Follow leaves it as Requested until they accept.
From the Followers and Following counters on any profile you open the list of people, and from there you can go to their profiles or follow them.
Public or private profile
Your profile starts out public: anyone can see your public decks, your streak and your comments. To change it, go to Settings → Privacy and tap Switch to private profile.
With a private profile, anyone who doesn't follow you only sees your picture, your username and your counts. To see the rest they have to request to follow you, and you accept or decline from the notification bell.
Going private does not change these three things:
- Your public decks stay in Explore and can still be cloned. Private hides your profile, it does not unpublish your decks.
- You still appear in the Leaderboard with your username, even though your profile can't be opened.
- Whoever already followed you stays a follower.
Finding people
To find someone, use the magnifying glass icon in the top bar. Type their username and pick the person from the results: it takes you to their profile, where you can follow them, see their public decks, or leave them a comment.
Profile comments
Every profile has a Comments section at the bottom, for leaving a message on someone's wall (or your own).
- Comment: write in the box at the top of the section and post. Your comment appears first.
- Reply: every comment can be replied to, building a thread. Whoever you reply to gets a notification.
- Delete: you can delete your own comments, and the profile owner can delete any on their wall.
- Report: if a comment is abusive, you can report it for the team to review.
When someone comments on your profile or replies to a comment of yours, the bell lets you know, and how that works is in Notifications.
Blocking and reporting
On another person's profile, the ••• menu (next to Follow) has two actions for when something isn't right:
- Block user: cuts off contact between the two of you. They can't follow you or comment on your profile, and neither can you on theirs. You can undo it whenever you want.
- Report user: flags someone misusing Medkit, with a reason. The report is reviewed by the team.
The list of people you blocked, and the button to unblock them, are in Settings › Privacy.
Reporting the person covers what's theirs: their username, their picture, the way they use Medkit. If what's wrong is one particular deck, it gets reported from that deck's page, and that's covered in Public decks.
