Accessibility

Medkit has several options to make studying more comfortable for your reading and vision needs.

Where to adjust it

The options are in Settings › Accessibility. They all apply across Medkit, except the Hidden words and Multiple choice ones, which belong to that card type.

Accessibility mode

If you'd rather not go option by option, the Turn on accessibility mode button switches on the two aids that help in any case at once: Reinforce indicators without relying on color and Reduce motion.

The preset only turns on those two. The rest stays as you left it: they change how all of Medkit looks and how you study, so turning it on won't override what you already chose.

The options

OptionWhat it does
Reinforce indicators without relying on colorAdds a non-color signal to everything that is distinguished by color: a high-contrast border on the blank for the word to answer, A/B/C/D letters on Multiple choice, and a letter on the New, Review, and Learning counters. For low vision and color blindness.
Reduce motionMinimizes animations and transitions across the app. It adds to your operating system's preference, it doesn't replace it.
Higher-contrast textRaises text contrast across the app, and the weight of the card text when studying. It adds to your operating system's preference, it doesn't replace it.
Hidden words aidsShows the real length of the covered word and adds a button to reveal its letters one at a time.
Confirm the answer in Multiple choicePicking an option leaves it marked, and the card is answered only when you press Confirm or Enter. Until then you can change your pick. For tremor and difficulty pointing.

Card appearance

Besides the options above, in Settings › Appearance you adjust how the card text looks when studying:

  • Font size: larger or smaller, and you set it separately for computer and phone.
  • Line spacing: the space between lines, so long texts read more airily.

To enlarge the text across all of Medkit, raise the font size in your browser or your system: Medkit grows with it, and there is nothing to set up here.

Light and dark theme

You pick the theme in Settings › Appearance, and also from the top bar at any time.
