Getting started
Medkit is an app for studying with cards and spaced repetition. In three steps you go from an empty account to your first study session.
What Medkit is
In Medkit you create cards (questions, images, exercises) and group them into decks by topic. When you study, a spaced repetition algorithm decides when to show you each card so you remember it with the least effort.
1. Create your first deck
Go to Create and build a deck with a name (your subject, for example). Then add cards to it: pick a card type, fill in the content, and save. If you already have cards in another app, you can import them instead of starting from scratch.
More detail in Creating decks and cards and in Importing cards.
2. Study
To study, go to Decks and tap Study on the deck you want.
If the deck has subdecks, that same button builds a single session with the cards from all of them: in Medkit, cards always live in the subdecks.
During the session, cards come up one at a time. You think of the answer, reveal it, and say how well you remembered it. Medkit uses that to schedule when to show it to you again.
How a session works, in How to study.
3. Track your progress
The dashboard is your starting point each day: it tells you what to study, how your streak is doing, and which topics are giving you the most trouble. Over time you build up statistics for each deck.
All of that, in Dashboard, streaks, and statistics.
The help hints
While you get started, Medkit shows short hints about the main buttons (creating your first deck, picking the card type, rating what you just studied). They don't block anything: you close them whenever you want and they don't come back. In Settings › Help you can turn them off entirely, or bring back the ones you already closed.
The main thing
There is nothing to configure to get started. Create a deck, add a few cards, and study for a while every day. Medkit takes care of the rest.
